This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal data that are collected, how it is stored, handled and kept safe. It also sets out your rights, how to get in contact and how to complain in the event you have a problem or complaint. Who am I?
I am an independent specialist dyslexia teacher who advertises services as Dyslexia SpLD Assessment. I provide diagnostic assessments for clients from age 8 to adult. In certain cases, I also provide specialist tuition.
Protecting your data
When information is collected or processed your personal data is regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation, which applies across the European Union (including the United Kingdom) and I am responsible as ‘controller’ or ‘processor’ of that personal information for the purposes of those laws.
What personal information is collected and used?
The information that is collected is needed to deliver the services you have asked for, such as assessment, tuition or advice. If an assessment is booked, background information is requested to inform the assessment process. In some cases, background information may also be requested from educational providers. The information is used to as part of the assessment process and this means that the holding of your personal data is a legitimate interest.
How your data is handled.
Your information is used solely to provide the services that you commission. Your data is processed by me personally and I follow strict security procedures in the storage and disclosure of your information. All computer systems are password protected and strict procedures are followed to prevent unauthorised access in accordance with UK data protection legislation.
I do not sell, rent, or exchange your personal data with any third party. I will not share your information for marketing purposes with any third-party companies. I only use your contact details to supply you with information, visit you for an assessment where agreed, or send you an invoice or assessment report.
How long will your personal information will be kept?
Your personal data (name, address, contact details, questionnaire responses and assessment reports) for general services and assessments will be kept securely for the period recommended by the professional associations (the BDA, Patoss and the Dyslexia Guild) which is currently 6 years. After this time, the data will be destroyed. It is recommended that you keep a copy of your report securely because after this time you will not be able to be supplied with a copy of your report.
